How the rescission period works Under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA / Regulation Z), borrowers have 3 business days to rescind a refinance or home equity loan on their primary residence. Business days for rescission include Saturdays but exclude Sundays and federal holidays. The right of rescission does not apply to purchase loans. Lenders cannot disburse funds until the rescission period has fully expired.
